Review Trends in Asia Pacific

On Tuesday, TrustYou released its first annual global reports spanning North America, Europe, The Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific. The reports are based on an analysis of more than 14 million reviews to see what travelers around the globe had to say about their travel experiences in 2013.

You can take a look at some of the global trends from Tuesday’s blog. Today, I’d like to take a closer look at some of the review trends in Asia Pacific (APAC). Keep in mind that these are only a few highlights from the global annual reports. For all the stats and insights, make sure to download the free reports here.

TrustScores Trending Up, Boding Well for 2014

In APAC, TrustScores followed a slight upward monthly trend, with scores peaking in November/December, boding well for a strong 2014. One factor that likely contributed to the improvement in scores was an increase in volume of reviews and management response rates.

Highest TrustScore: Bali

Biggest increase in volume of reviews: Malé, Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur

Highest management response rates: Auckland

Small Markets Deliver 5-Star Experiences

Globally, major markets saw a drop in percentage of five-star reviews; this is also true in APAC, with the exception of Beijing and Shanghai. Smaller markets made up for this decline, posting an increase in five-star reviews.

Travelers Were Confused About The Hotel Room

TrustYou’s database shows that the hotel room is one of the most mentioned aspects of the hotel stay within the APAC region, and it was a source of declining satisfaction among travelers visiting APAC hotels. Room Scores in major APAC markets declined in 16 of the 26 major markets in this report.
