Metasearch - the winning approach to direct bookings: 

Our partner Fastbooking came up this week with an in-depth analysis, with very useful data and charts. This was meant to identify the evolvement of TripAdvisor, Trivago, Google Hotel Ads, HotelsCombined and Google AdWords, in regards of their metasearch performance. You can find here charts about their traffic volume, cost per click and return on ad spend and FASTBOOKING’s personal take on each one of them.

Shangri-La doubles up in Sri Lanka:

Moving on to clients of ours, the Hong Kong-based luxury hotel operator has a pipeline of new luxury properties across the Indian Ocean and Asia, beginning with the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. Shangri-La’s Sri Lanka expansion comes at a time when the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) forecasts the country’s travel and tourism GDP will grow 6.3% per year over the coming decade. By 2026, the industry is expected to be worth US$85 billion to the country’s economy.

Business Travel sector to grow by 3.7 percent annually:

According to a new report by Travelport and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the business travel sector is about to grow by 3.7% per year over the next decade. Released at the WTTC Global Summit in Bangkok, the report shows that the fastest growth for the business travel sector is expected in the emerging markets, with Asia-Pacific leading the way at a predicted rate of 6.2% each year to 2027.

Business Travelers Are Stressed About Safety and Work-Life Balance:

A recent study conducted by the Association for Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and American Express Global Business Travel show that events over the last six months have caused business travelers to become more concerned with safety on the road and their overall quality of life when traveling. ACTE polled 239 travel buyers in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa during the first three weeks of March. Compared to the last time this survey was conducted in September 2016, more travelers are worried about their safety when they are in destinations and potential disruptions while in the air.
